DAY EIGHTEEN, Zero Day in Fort Nelson

Once again:
I'm going to start this with a plug.  Everybody should check out thebeardedladyproject.com   It is a great film and exhibition piece set up to raise awareness of women's contribution to science, specifically paleontology, and the continued presence of misogyny therein.  It involves a scholarship fund for women in STEM.  So, please check it out and DONATE.

Well, last night, I wound up meating this stranded trucker from Whitehorse that was waiting for a pickup.  He had a dog.  So, we first started talking about our dogs.  Eventually, I mentioned I was bicycling to Alaska and he said he had to buy me a beer.  A beer turned into like 5 . . and a burger.  So, it was a pretty good night.  I also met a Coast Guard guy moving to Homer via RV with his family in tow.  He was taking his time and enjoying the landscape.  He also offered me a beer, but it was getting pretty late for me and 5 was probably plenty already.

Fort Nelson is not a big town.  It is certainly marked as a major settlement on my Alaska Highway guide, but that doesn't mean much.  It has some hotels and motels, and I was able to get myself a new tire and extra spare tube though.  The owner even reduced the price for me because of what I am endeavoring to do.
So, stop at this place if you need bike supplies.

The Fort Nelson Heritage Museum ( #fnmuseum) is well worth a visit and entrance is only 5 dollars Canadian!  There is so much history crammed onto that plot of land.  Tons of antique vehicles, some historic buildings, and tons of other stuff.

Well, I think I'm going to try my luck at the Triple G Restaurant again.  Then, it is sleep time, because I have some tough climbing to do tomorrow.
