Well, it rained for most of my stay at Testa River Campground. It was still raining at my typical wake-up time. So, I let myself sleep in, afraid I was going to have a repeat of the 36 hour rain misery. But, it stopped raining around 7:30 local time. The sky stayed pretty gray until I reached Summit Lake. It was still a pretty ride, though tough. Saw 2 black bear cubs on the other side of the road about a mile apart. I didn't see mama bear. I did not stop for pictures, cause i did not want to run into mama bear. I did only 28 miles, but most of it was up. They saved the worst of it for the last 2 miles. I made a pit stop at about 11 miles and a huge and decadent cinnamon bun at the RV site. Twas delicious! As per usual, some of the rvers started in with:
Are you crazy?
How far you going?
I'm having a hard enough time driving up these hills.
You camping?
From Montana!?!

No sun also meant my solar charger wasn't much help. So, I surreptitiously helped myself to some electrons while I ate my bun and chocolate milk.
I was missing the gorgeous snow covered mountains since leaving Banff and Jasper behind. Well, I got them back today.
Summit Lake Campground is the highest point on the Alaska Highway. It's all downhill from here . . . Anyway, the campground is right up against the lake nestled in the valley between several peaks. It is spectacular. You must at least stop here for a bit if not stay a night. I hiked almost to the top of Stone Mountain. I was a third of a mile shy. But, I had gone up in my biking shoes. So, as I got into the tougher rock and a bit of snow, I decided I didn't really want to slip or ruin my cleats. Got some spectacular panoramas though, snowy peaks with streams running down, a view of the lake and campground, some more lichen shots . . . Twas a good hike. And, the sun came out!!!
Okay, I love hiking. So, I couldn't help myself. I got another amazing hike in. It was the Flower Springs Lake trail. It was well worth the effort. The sun came all the way out and the views were spectacular.
