Ugh. I just could not get myself out of the sleeping bag. At first, I thought it was just because I had the alarm to such an early time. It couldn't be much colder than any other night . . . Or at least that's what I thought til I finally roused myself out of the tent and I noticed the underwear I had swum in. They were frozen solid.
It was real nice being on the road so early, several straight hours with no cars.
Twas nice and peaceful. Made a snack stop about halfway through at a small pond. One butterfly joined me. Another made it two . . . And then a whole horde descended! I swear they must have been having an orgy. They were so intent on whatever they were doing. I could almost touch them without any reaction.
A few miles down the road I stopped to take pictures of an abandoned antique gasoline truck and discovered wild strawberries. And, they were ripe!! I have across the plants many times before in every conceivable place, but my timing has never been right. The berries were tiny, but they were the most delicious strawberries ever! So much flavor condensed into a tiny package!
